2020 milestones

We care for life
In order to protect the lives of our employees, suppliers and communities, we created a department to coordinate activities and implemented strict biosafety protocols in all our operations.
We expanded our presence in Latin America
In Brazil, we completed the acquisition of 100 % of Argo Energía, which was jointly acquired in equal proportions with the Spanish company Red Eléctrica Internacional. This acquisition involved an investment of approximately USD 370 million for GEB.
We are diverse and inclusive
GEB received the Equipares Silver Seal certification from the Labor Ministry and the High Presidential Counselor on Women’s Equality, with support from the UNDP, for its implementation of the Diversity and Inclusion Policy and conformance with 95 % of the requirements of the Equipares standard.
We carried out a successful bond issue
We successfully carried out a USD 400 million bond issue in international markets, which was 11 times oversubscribed, and a local bond issue for COP 950 billion, which was 2.15 times oversubscribed.
Recognition for good biosafety practices
GEB and TGI achieved the "Safe Guard Seal" certification issued by Bureau Veritas Quality for our COVID-19 pandemic management and for 100 % compliance with the requirements of the globally recognized Safe Guard biosafety system.
Growth in connections in Peru
Our subsidiary Cálidda, the largest natural gas distributor in Peru, made 93,385 new connections, a milestone for the company in its 16 years in operation, through which it now has over 1 million customers.
We continue to make progress in the PET
Trecsa achieved 86.6 % completion of construction of the PET, the most important electric energy transmission project in Central America.
We assisted the most vulnerable
The Board of Directors of GEB approved a donation for COP 10 billion for humanitarian assistance, delivery of food packages, medical equipment and computers to assist vulnerable populations affected by COVID-19.
We continue to grow
TGI started up operations of the third loop of Cusiana Phase IV.
We are a great place to work
We were certified by the firm Great Place to Work for having achieved a very outstanding level compared to other companies in the industry.

GEB

  • We received the Andesco 2020 Great Award for Sustainability for our outstanding management and practices in the environmental, social, labor, market and corporate governance focus areas.

  • The Global Compact and Alliance For Integrity, with the support of UNODC Colombia, granted recognition to GEB y TGI for their good anti-corruption practices.

  • For the seventh consecutive year, we received the Investor Relations (IR) recognition of the Colombian Securities Exchange (BVC, for the Spanish original) for the issuers with the highest standards of information disclosure.

  • Thanks to our Energía para la Paz (Energy for Peace) program, we were included in Fortune magazine’s Change the World 2020 ranking, achieving the 12th place among 53 initiatives worldwide.

  • Global Compact Colombia granted us recognition for good sustainable development practices in SDG 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions, for the Energy for Peace program.

  • We received the Corporate Social Responsibility award from the S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards for the Energy for Peace program.

  • We were ranked in 17th place among Merco’s ranking of the 100 companies with best reputation in Peru, and in 1st place in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • We won the 11th Iberian-American Corresponsables Awards 2020 for our Popular Comedores (Soup Kitchens) program.

  • We were awarded the distinction of Socially Responsible Company of Peru 2021.

  • We received recognition for our carbon footprint calculation (Ministry of the Environment).

  • We won the 2020 Sustainable Development Award of the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy in the Social Management category.

  • We won the 2020 Cemefi award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practices

  • Thanks to our RAEEciclar initiative, we received recognition as “companies that promote responsible use of electric and electronic devices”.
