Our achievements in 2020

(103-3)

We reached 7.6 million customers, including 4.2 million in the electricity market and 3.4 million in natural gas.

  • Our subsidiary Cálidda, the largest natural gas distributor in Peru, made 93,385 new connections in 2020, a milestone for the company in its 16 years in operation, through which it now has over 1 million households connected.

  • In late August, BID Invest granted a USD 100 million loan to Cálidda, with an eight-year term (three years of grace), which assures its reactivation following the lockdown, as well as its credit standing.

  • Cálidda was in 17th place in the Merco Reputation Ranking in 2020, and is the leader in the oil and gas industry, which positions the company as a business role model in Peru.

  • Contugas continued to connect new customers: it reached 61,801 connected households, making use of the FISE government subsidies granted to vulnerable populations to finance gas appliances and internal connections.

  • Contugas has completed the appointment of the arbitration tribunals, which enables it to initiate legal proceedings against the companies Egasa and Egesur, for the effect of collecting their debts to the company.

  • In Peru, through Grupo Dunas (the holding company of three companies: Electro Dunas, Cantalloc and Peru Power Company) we are positioned as the only distributor in Peru with a system for reading, registering and publishing the energy bill on the web page, which facilitates billing for more than 250,000 customers.

  • Electro Dunas structured the construction of the Chiribamba substation, with the most modern GIS technology, fully automated and unique in Peru, due to the challenge of working at 4,500 meters above sea level. It also expanded the Ica Norte substation, which increased its capacity by 40 MVA.

  • Electro Dunas upgraded the SCADA system and the Control Center with new modern tools for the efficient operation of networks. It also implemented innovation projects, such as the energy storage system, which establishes the foundations for the development of smart networks.

Our challenges for 2021

We will support the digital transformation and smart cities initiatives through our affiliates.

  • Invest in Peru in order to promote mass use of natural gas through Cálidda.

  • Assess opportunities to optimize the natural gas transportation infrastructure of Contugas

  • Support the digital transformation and smart cities initiatives through the affiliates, to optimize the processes, increase efficiency and enhance the quality of distribution services.
